Grape Seed Antioxidant
Grape Seed extract demonstrates excellent antioxidant qualities by scavenging
free radicals and exhibits significantly greater antioxidant effects than Vitamin C, E and
Beta-carotene. Recent research indicates that Grape Seed Extract is 50 times
stronger than Vitamin E and 20 times stronger than Vitamin C. Some recent
studies have shown that Grape Seed Extract also prevents Vitamin E loss by
causing alpha-tocopherol radicals to revert to their Antioxidant form. It is
essential in the synthesis of collagen, with the ability to cross link collagen
fibres, which strengthens and also stabalises the capillary walls. Grape Seed
Extract provides additional support for any healing of wounds and related skin
disorders.
Several studies have demonstrated that Grape Seed Extract has cancer
fighting qualities and it strongly suppresses tumour growth and has a cytoxic
activity against a range of cancer cells, including breast, lung, prostate and
gastric cells. There is also evidence that Grape Seed Extract has an
anti-inflammatory effect on your body. It offers cardio-protective effects too,
considering its antioxidant, antiplatelet and anti-inflammatory actions which
may indicate a role in fighting heart disease. Grape Seed Extract was recently
found to stabalise diabetic retinopathy in 80% of subjects compared with 47% who
took placebos in double-blind testing. Most clinical research has been conducted
in Europe and suggests that it is well tolerated and generally safe, however
people taking anti-coagulants should refer to their health professional before
taking this substance.
