Glutamine

Glutamine contributes to muscle strength and recovery after heavy or strenuous physical or sporting activity. It is an amino acid used by the immune system and intestinal cells and some people who are critically ill, under stress, suffering injury, burns or have undergone surgery show benefits in their recovery process. Glutamine also promotes gastrointestinal repair and may improve tolerance to chemotherapy and other anti-cancer treatments. It supports the absorption of energy from food, which is sometimes compromised under the conditions listed above, so is seen as having an energy boosting effect. Glutamine is also viewed as a “brain food” and muscle mass enhancer.

Physicians have recommended Glutamine in the treatment of alcoholism, muscle wasting diseases and mild depression. During stress, your body may draw Glutamine away from muscles in order to bolster the immune system or prevent blood sugar reactions. Some studies report that Glutamine improves your mental function because your body uses Glutamine to transport Nitrogen to the brain and nervous system. Some people report elevated levels of Glutamine reduce their cravings for sweets and snacks in between meals.

Glutamine also helps relives insomnia, improves mood, calms anxiety, reduces pms symptoms, helps control appetite, improves symptoms of fybromyalgia and headaches.
