Amino acids
Amino Acids form the building blocks for proteins and are critical to the functioning of
everybody’s metabolism. Amino acids have many functions throughout the body including ensuring
the nutritious elements in food are extracted during digestion and used for vital body function.
When taken up from the diet, the 22 standard amino acids are either used to synthesize proteins and other
biomolecules or oxidized to urea and carbon dioxide as a source of energy.
