Healthscript weight loss and fitness blog - 2011
In this series of articles I'm going to share with you my advice, observations and strategies for getting fit and losing weight.
Now you have to bear in mind that this is more of a “do as I say, not as I do” series, but having said that I'm going to do my level best to stick to my own advice.
To help both of us I'm going to document my own progress throughout the year. This will keep me honest, and hopefully demonstrate that my advice "holds water".
I'm 99% sure that it does – after all I'm Mr Right.
There are a few clichés or truisms, which we should keep in mind.
"If you take care of the process, the process will take care of the results." Essentially this means if you put in the work, you will get the results.
It's the "putting in the work" that is the complicated bit. Notice that I didn't say hard. It could be hard, but there are many techniques and strategies for achieving this,
and that's what makes it complicated.
"To finish first, first you must finish." and “Slow and steady wins the race.” Both of these have a similar meaning in our context. Basically, a consistent effort over a long
period, i.e. do a little bit every day, rather than over exerting frenetic exercising between long periods of inactivity – this is my speciality. I don't think I'm alone on this one.
Work, family commitments and long wet winters can sap the will to live, let alone the will to get out in what little spare time you may have left to inflict physical pain upon yourself.
So I guess my new year's resolution is "putting theory into practice"
Welcome aboard the Hallam Webber fitness fun bus of 2011. We'll start off slowly, set some goals and discuss the merits of various types of exercise.
Taupo 2010
No guessing which one I am.
It turns out lycra is NOT my friend, but this is going to change over 2011.
The plan is to literally get rid of the bulge.
